Why?
Ice cream is high in sugar and milk — many dogs are lactose intolerant. Sugar-free versions can contain xylitol, which is deadly to dogs.
⚠️ Watch out for
Gas, diarrhea, vomiting from lactose; collapse or seizures if it contained xylitol.
✅ Safe way
A lick of plain vanilla is rarely an emergency. But check the label for xylitol/birch sugar — if present, get to a vet immediately.
